SPECIALTY MONOMERS............The business of specialty monomers is highly concentrated, highly priced, with high growth.  This is already a thriving $8 billion business.  About one-half of the tonnage is sold to the merchant market.

The technical and commercial opportunities of these specialty monomers are abundant, as they are found in numerous technically demanding industrial and consumer applications.  They distinguish themselves by their superior qualities:  heat resistance, fire retardancy, impact resistance, tensile strength, clarity, weatherability, adhesion, dielectric properties, etc.

Functionality is the key to success for specialty monomers, especially when they are copolymerized with commodity monomers.  To justify their higher cost, the specialty materials must upgrade the product.  Synergism is expected.  In other instances, the structure of the monomer imparts high performance properties.

SPECIALTY MONOMERS will be a thorough investigation into some 270 monomers in 30 families.  The business section will include information on industry structure, market shares, producers, users, trends, merchant vs. captive, and the impact of government regulation.  The families of monomers are:
