PRESSURE-SENSITIVE PRODUCTS..........The
pressure-sensitive industry is dynamic and complex, diverse in its
technology, products, channels of distribution, and end uses. Pressure
sensitives are both functional and decorative, with widespread
applications in home, office, hospital and factory. They offer
instantaneous adhesion, holding strength, protection from the elements
and, as popular tools, assemble, patch, mask, bandolier, and laminate a
variety of substrates, both temporarily and permanently. Pressure-sensitive products are a major
consumer of a variety of adhesives, papers, films, foils, release
coatings, fabrics, etc. Various products serve automotive, packaging,
electrical, medical, construction, and other industries.
During the past four decades, the pressure-sensitive industry has undergone pronounced changes in technology, materials and product design. The forces driving this transformation were air and water pollution control, rising costs of energy and raw materials, and demand for new products. |
